Assessing customers sustainable renewable energy and back-up power needs based on current electricity consumption usage patterns, maximum demand and cost resulting from the different tariff structures in the various areas of grid supply

Highlights of what we

Do and Deliver

  • Providing reliable and tested Customer investment decision-making key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainable solar PV renewable energy options
  • Advising Customer’s on how to:
    • best save electricity costs in the medium term (typically in less than 5 years)
    • be less dependent on the electricity supply from the grid by designing grid-tie and hybrid (with energy storage and/or standby generation) solar PV solutions for their premises
  • Delivering best suited and dimensioned turnkey solar PV EPC solutions
  • Calculating best possible Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) tariffs & Rent-to-Own (RTO) Terms & Conditions
  • Offering PPAs and RTOs in association with funding partners

RDS Energy Economics

Services

RDS Energy Economics offers a full-range of consultancy services as well as quality design and engineering for solar PV power supply solutions to both local enterprise (commercial and industrial sectors) and international utility scale customers.  Consultancy services include:

Customer Assessment

Assessing customers back-up power and sustainable renewable energy and back-up power needs based on current electricity consumption usage patterns, maximum demand and cost based on the various prevailing tariff structures;

  • Reverse engineering raw billing data into useful design information; and
  • Analysing available check metering data to fully understand daily electricity consumption patterns.

Designing and Engineering

Designing and engineering solar PV grid-tie and hybrid (with energy storage and/or standby generation) systems to meet customer back-up power and alternative sustainable energy requirements:

  • Ground mount, carport and rooftop solar PV applications;
  • Making use of Tier 1 OEM equipment with online monitoring for best long-term performance; and
  • Comprehensive Bill of Materials compiled for each proposed solution.

Technical & Financial Consulting

Advising customers on the best technical and financial solutions to promote viable and attractive capital investments in solar PV systems:

  • Project capital costing, cost of funding (if applicable), incentives to invest in renewable energy, ongoing operating & maintenance expenses, future plant refurbishment costs, nett cash savings, payback period and internal rate of return (IRR) metrics all included; and
  • Extensive graphical representation of all financial results presented to the Customer in a comprehensive report.

Procurement

Procuring, constructing, project management, commissioning and hand-over (together with ongoing operations and maintenance service level agreements) of the optimal customer solution; and

Execution

Executing long-term solar PV energy production projections and associated energy economics studies;

  • HelioScope and PVSyst energy harvest studies;
  • Calculating average solar PV energy production profiles per month; and
  • Determining the value of the solar PV energy produced that will reduce Customer energy consumption from the grid.

Financed Solutions

Developing financially viable power purchase agreement tariffs or rent-to-own option terms and conditions when third party supply of renewable energy to the customer or financed solutions are preferred.  These options ensure that Customers’ always pay less for electricity when compared to the rising cost of grid supplied energy
